Nutritionist vs. Dietitian: What’s The Difference?

Most people don’t see much of a difference between the title “nutritionist” and “dietitian,” but there is actually a huge difference between the two. Anyone that is interested in the health and nutrition world, needs to know the difference, and why titles matter in this field.

Nutritionist:

Legally, anyone can call themselves a nutritionist. I am one, you are one, your mother is one, your father is one, all of your friends are nutritionist. There are no regulations when using that term or title. Someone that says they are a nutritionist may not have any schooling in nutrition, and are not regulated by any sort of organization or accreditation. This can be dangerous, because most “nutritionist” are self-taught and may not get their information, or “advice” rom reliable, evidence-based sources. My Favorite Things: September

September is one of my favorite months, because it includes the start of fall, as well as my birthday! I guess I was enjoying it so much, it seemed to fly by! But here are some of the things I loved during the best month of the year!

Family time

I was able to go home twice this month, once for Labor Day and then again for a conference. It’s always so great seeing my family, and our new addition Toby!

Day In The Life Of A Dietetics Student | September 24, 2015

A fellow blogger and nutrition major that I am obsessed with just wrote a “Day In The Life Of A Dietetics Student” blog post, and it inspired me to do the same!

The beauty of being a college student is never having a typical day, there’s always something different going on. But here is a fairly good representation of how I spend a day being a dietetics student!

On Tuesday and Thursdays I have three classes, the first one at 8:00am. Now that I’m a senior in college, I’ve lowered my getting ready time to about twenty minutes. I set everything out the night before, so all I have to do is get up, wash my face, get dressed, make coffee, and head out the door! I drive to school, so I have to give myself at least 20 minutes to drive, park, and walk to class. My alarm goes off at 7:10, and by 7:30 I’m leaving with hot coffee in my hand.

My Favorite Things: August

Wow, where did August go?! I can’t believe that it’s already September, which is not a complaint at all considering September is my favorite month, but where how did it get here so fast? Lots of exciting things happened in August, and there were lots of favorites to include this month so get ready!

Toby The Puppy

One super exciting thing that happened this month was that our family got a puppy! I was able to go home for a few days before school started back so I could meet the little guy. He is a Chihuahua|Terrier mix, and is absolutely precious. Can’t wait to head down the mountain on my next break from school to visit him again and see how much he’s grown!
