What I Eat In A Day | July 31, 2015

Sorry if you’re getting tired of my typical breakfast, but since high school once I find a good breakfast, I stick with it for at least five months. I tend to be a habitual person, and it definitely shows in the foods I eat. Why fix what’s not broken?

So for breakfast I had two slices of Ezekiel bread, one with blackberry jelly and the other with peanut butter. Alongside it I had two juicy peaches, one huge banana, and of course some black coffee.

After a few hours of e-mails, blog stuff, and watching TV, I really wanted to go on a hike/walk so I ate some more fruit with a side of a few dates to fuel up.

What I Eat In A Day | July 28, 2015

Today’s What I Eat In A Day will be a little different, because I entered all my food into cronometer which is an awesome website that tracks you calories, macronutrient ration, as well as nutrients. I definitely don’t do this everyday, but I like to do it at least once a month to make sure I’m eating all my vitamins, and minerals as well as just see how all my food adds up. So now, onto the food!

Breakfast was eaten at about 11:00, and was my typical breakfast. Two slices of Ezekiel bread, one with peanut butter and molasses and the other with blackberry jelly. Along side the toast, I had some strawberries, two bananas, and of course a nice cup of black coffee.

Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs & Wear Cows by Melanie Joy, Ph.D. | Book Review

There probably won’t be very many book reviews posted here, because if you know me.. you know how much I hate to read. Reading is one of those things that I really wish I enjoyed, but I just never have. Maybe one day I’ll learn to love reading, but until then I’ll be happy to read (but more importantly, finish) at least two books every year.

0005s_0000_2012_03_01_why_we_love-353x210One book that I’m proud to say I read this year was Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs, & Wear Cows: An Introduction to Carnism written by social psychologist Melanie Joy Ph. D. I had been wanting to read this book for about a year, and finally forced myself to go to the library, check it out, and actually read. Ever since going vegan, and understanding the social norms that surround eating and using animal products, I’ve been fascinated at the psychological reasoning and history behind using animals for our own use. This book really encompassed a lot of the topics I was interested in, so I found it very informative and eye-opening.

What I Eat In A Day

Today started off at 9:45am with breakfast being an Ezekiel English Muffin with one half of it spread with peanut butter, and the other a strawberry jelly from Trader Joe’s (sweetened with fruit juice!). I also had a bowl of fruit: a banana, strawberries, and cantaloupe. Of course a cup of black coffee was served along side it all!

IMG_8303I then ran some errands, worked on some blog stuff, and then was ready for lunch! Around 12:00pm I made my Spinach Veggie Wrap but instead of a spinach tortilla, I used a whole wheat tortilla. I also ate some cantoulpe with it.

What I Eat In A Day

Today, I thought I’d share with you what I typically eat in a day. This is just an example of a random day I decided to take photos of what I eat, but it definitely varies from day to day. On this day I didn’t have class and just spent the day doing laundry, cleaning, homework, and running some errands. Let’s take a look at what I ate. . .

Breakfast (11:30)
I love to sleep, so when I don’t have class sleeping in late is my favorite thing to do. Breakfast didn’t get started until around 11:30, so eating this late isn’t very typically for me but I love a good brunch every now and then!
I always try to start the day off with lots of water and love putting freshly squeezed lemon juice in it, lemons are great for cleansing and help to jumpstart your digestion first thing in the morning!
Because this day was very cloudy, I took a vitamin D supplement, the kind I use is liquid so I just drop a little drop on my tongue on days when the sun isn’t out. I also take a vitamin B-12 supplement (which I recommend everyone get their levels tested, vegan or not!) which is completely food-based and also liquid.
