What I Eat In A Day | July 28, 2015

Today’s What I Eat In A Day will be a little different, because I entered all my food into cronometer which is an awesome website that tracks you calories, macronutrient ration, as well as nutrients. I definitely don’t do this everyday, but I like to do it at least once a month to make sure I’m eating all my vitamins, and minerals as well as just see how all my food adds up. So now, onto the food!

Breakfast was eaten at about 11:00, and was my typical breakfast. Two slices of Ezekiel bread, one with peanut butter and molasses and the other with blackberry jelly. Along side the toast, I had some strawberries, two bananas, and of course a nice cup of black coffee.

What I Eat In A Day

Today started off at 9:45am with breakfast being an Ezekiel English Muffin with one half of it spread with peanut butter, and the other a strawberry jelly from Trader Joe’s (sweetened with fruit juice!). I also had a bowl of fruit: a banana, strawberries, and cantaloupe. Of course a cup of black coffee was served along side it all!

IMG_8303I then ran some errands, worked on some blog stuff, and then was ready for lunch! Around 12:00pm I made my Spinach Veggie Wrap but instead of a spinach tortilla, I used a whole wheat tortilla. I also ate some cantoulpe with it.

My Refrigerator/Freezer Staples

There are several things that I almost always have in my fridge and freezer. It’s important to find your own personal staples so that you are always prepared for when you’re in a rush. Also, by having healthy staples in your house you won’t be tempted by foods that may not be as nutritious.

What’s Almost ALWAYS In My….

Refrigerator:

Unsweetened almond milk (Silk): Almond milk is a necessity in my opinion. Because I don’t eat dairy, almond milk is my favorite milk alternative. I like to buy the Silk brand because it doesn’t have carrageenan like the other brands (Almond Breeze) do. Carrageenan is a seaweed extract that can cause many digestive problems, so avoiding it is important. I use almond milk in almost everything; oatmeal, poured over frozen fruit, smoothies, and different desserts. Continue reading “My Refrigerator/Freezer Staples”

Enjoy The Taste of Eating Right: National Nutrition Month

March is National Nutrition Month, which is so exciting! This month is dedicated to eating nutritiously, and motivating people to make healthy changes in their life. I love that there is whole month dedicated to nutrition, something that I live everyday celebrating.

For the past three years, I have truly dedicated my life to not only studying and learning about good nutrition, but also to eating and living a more nutritious life. I also try to encourage, and motivate others to make steps to healthier eating. When I decided I wanted major in nutrition I had no idea that I would develop such a passion for this field, and for this career, but I’m so glad that I did.

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is promoting this month, so you should definitely go check out their website/information about National Nutrition Month at http://www.eatright.org/nnm/#.UxQCPnm9ZuY
They’ve also provided a subject for us bloggers to discuss, and that is Enjoying the Taste of Eating Right.

Personally, there is nothing more satisfying than biting into a big juicy cantaloupe, or crunching on fresh baby carrots, or sipping a sweet green juice, or slurping up a warm cauliflower soup, so eating right for me is pure enjoyment. I haven’t always like to eat these foods, and in the past I would have been disgusted by the thought of cauliflower soup….much less anything that had to do with cauliflower. Enjoying the taste of eating right took time.
